In 2003, Stefek's added a clean out service because of increased client demand. Many of our clients did not have enough items to conduct an estate or moving sale or a sale was not permitted because of the location (but there were still items to sell), so we created a niche. This niche has grown 25% each year because it aides people or entities in charge of the estate who want to make just one telephone call to solve all their needs. We currently conduct approximately 100-125 clean outs per year.
When you employ Stefek's to conduct a clean out, we follow the following procedure:
Evaluate if there are any item(s) auction worthy. If so, items taken on consignment
Arrange for private buyers and sell as many items as possible (No commission taken)
Provide inventory of items sold and what they sold for
Pack up and donate any left over useful items for charity
Provide detailed list of items donated, their value and receipt
Remove any and all debris (usually requiring a dumpster)
Clean the home
We are often relied upon by a diverse group from estate executors, administrators, guardians, and courts to attorneys, relatives and individuals. Stefek's understands how sensitive estate clean outs can be, and we will be there for you through every step of the process. Lori Stefek's background in the estate sales and appraisal business sets give her an edge on what items are valuable, sellable, useful and disposable. What may take a family member or other company weeks or months to clean out a home, Stefek's staff works efficiently and usually has the job done in about a day.
We specialize in homes that need a great deal of sorting and large volumes of accumulated assets and property. Most homes contain massive amounts of paperwork, memorabilia, mementos, and other items they have collected over the years. For many, the thought of trying to rid a home of these items is not only overwhelming, but emotional, exhausting and daunting. Stefek's is proficient in uncluttering and sifting through documents (i.e. wills, titles, deeds and paperwork needed for the estate administrator of family member). We also specialize in sifting through what is useful, what has value and what needs to be disposed of. When we are finished, the home is left organized and manageable.
Senior Moving Specialists
 In 2005, Stefek's added senior moving to its services. With my clients living longer and unable to live alone, there was a need to assist them in their move to assisted living or closer to a loved one. We have moved our clients to Sunrise Assisted Living, American House, Walton Wood, Oakwood Commons , Henry Ford Village and many others. We have also moved people back to Michigan from as far away as Florida and have moved people closer to their families in other states.
When you employ Stefek's to move you to assisted living, we provide the following services:
Consult with client to decide what items to take
Organize floor plan
Pack and unpack at new home
Hang pictures, hook up cable
If needed, make arrangements to ship items to loved ones
Conduct moving sale
Advance Preparation
Even if moving is months, or even a year away, advance preparation can make your transition much easier. As your moving management company, we will outline the steps and guide in preparation for your move. A clean, uncluttered home will always sell faster, so we'll assist you in removing items from your home that may impede its sale. This may include donating items to charity or shipping items to loved ones. It might include disposing of items that are no longer useful. Our management team will handle the details of the entire relocation. For instance, just before you move, we will make sure all utilities are transferred out of your name, send out change of address cards and anything else that might make your transition easier.
The Move
Once you have chosen your new home, we will help you create your new floor plan using our magnetic space planning system. This interior design tool will visually demonstrate where your furniture will fit and what you can take to your new home. It's important to take with you photos and personal items that will bring comfort because we want your new home to be as warm and cozy as your last. We will then pack, move, and unpack your items in your new home and arrange it just the way you like it. Your pictures will be hung, all televisions and computers will be working and we'll even make your bed.
After the Move
Once you have moved into your new home, we will either conduct a moving sale or conduct a clean out. Most clients appreciate dealing with one person to handle all their needs. When they employ Stefek's, they know every last detail will be taken care of.
