Absentee Bidding Instructions
Before completing the bid form listed below, please be sure to read the important information starting with Conditions of Sale ) in your auction catalog. If you cannot attend this auction, but would like to bid on items, the procedure is quite simple:
1. Fill out this form, listing catalog lot number, description, and your top bid price for each item. The limit you leave should be the amount to which you would bid if you were to attend the sale. Bidding increments are listed at the bottom of this page. Please make sure that your bids fall within these increments. This is crucial to insure your bids will be accurately handled.
2. A 10% deposit must accompany your bids if you have not bid with us before. This can be accomplished in either of two ways:
(A) Enclose a check or money order for 10% of the total amount of your bids.
(B) A Visa or Mastercard credit card number may be given in lieu of the 10% check or money order deposit. We will not charge the 10% deposit to your credit card; this is for a credit reference only. If successful, you may authorize us to charge your purchases on your Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit card. However, if payment for merchandise is not forthcoming in 30 days of invoice we will charge the credit card number given for payment.
3. At the auction, bids are handled in a competitive manner in an attempt to buy the object for less that your top bid. As our auctions are well attended, you will be competing against the audience, phone bidders, and internet bidders. You will pay one bid above the next highest bid, but no more than your maximum. If two absentee bids are received with the exact same amount, the first bid received will take precedence. Absentee bids have an equal chance of being successful as do telephone or in-person bids, yet do not take precedence over any bidding method.
4. Successful bidders will then be invoiced within a few days of the sale. A 15% buyers premium will be applied to each lot purchased by cash or check. If you choose to pay by credit card, the buyer's premium is 17%. Internet Buyer's Premium is 22.5% when paying by credit card . If you choose to pay by check , the internet buyer's premium is 20%. If you sent a 10% check or money order deposit, it will be subtracted from your total and the balance due upon presentation of your bill. Unsuccessful bidders will be notified shortly after the sale and refunded their 10% deposit if applicable. Payment guidelines are the same for absentee bidders as for bidders at the sale, please read your catalog information pages.
5. All merchandise purchased must be paid for and removed from the premises by 7 days after the auction. Stefek's may impose, and the purchaser agrees to pay a monthly storage charge of 1.5% of the purchase price as well as a monthly interest charge of 1.5% for any lot or item not paid for or removed by the purchaser within 7 days of the date of the sale. If you cannot adhere to these conditions, other arrangements must be made prior to the sale.
6. Please bid as early as possible . You may telephone, fax, or mail your bids. If you fax your bids, or if you mail your bids later than four or five days prior to the sale, it would be a good idea to call as well. Please do not both fax and mail bids as this can create confusion.
7. PLEASE NOTE: Stefek's offers this service as a convenience to our clients who are unable to attend the sale and will not be held responsible for error or failure to execute bids.
