Signed James Monroe land grant. American, circa 1800. Land granted to William and Alexander Cockran and Samuel Meeker. Signed by James Monroe as Governor of Virginia (1758-1831). 21 1/2" x 15". Condition: Slipped in the frame. The paper was folded and has crease lines. Missing the wax seal.

Lot 69: John Steinbeck Autographed Letter, 1963
John Steinbeck autographed letter. Written on personal stationary and dated "April 11, 1963". The letter reads: "Dear Mr. Kerciu: You are guilty you know. Thank God! It has seemed to me that most of the cruelty in the world stems from the stupid, the innocent, the uninvolved. Did you ever hear of a guily murderer? I salute you! May I join you in guilt? Yours, John Steinbeck". The envelope addressed to G. Ray Kerciu, Art Department, University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi. The letter was written to the assistant Art Professor at the University of Mississippi. Condition: The letter is folded. The lower crease is slightly separated from the right side. The envelope is missing the stamps. It was opened on the right end.
